GEO Consultant

Make your brand appear when someone asks an AI.

Freelance GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) consultant with over 15 years in SEO. I help brands appear when their customers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude or Copilot. AI engine visibility audits, schema for LLMs, llms.txt and agentic protocols, entity optimization and citation monitoring. GEO is not SEO with another name: it's a different game with different rules.

/what is GEO

What GEO is and why you should start now

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the discipline of optimizing content and brand presence so AI engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Claude cite you in their answers. Shares roots with SEO but changes the rules: you're no longer competing for a click in a list, you're competing to appear in a generated answer. Brands that don't appear there cease to exist for users who start their search with AI.

SEO vs GEO

SEO: Google shows a list, user clicks. GEO: AI responds and cites some, ignores others. Two logics, two vocabularies.

Speed of change

ChatGPT has over 700 million active users. Perplexity grows double-digit monthly. Search is no longer only Google.

Short window

AI engines are still malleable. Brands entering now settle as sources. In 18 months, the space will be taken.

/what I do

What this pillar covers

These are the fronts I work on as a GEO consultant. Each project combines them depending on which AI engines matter to you and your industry.

01

GEO audit

I analyze how your brand shows up (or does not) in AI engine answers for the questions that matter in your industry, and which sources are being cited instead of you.

What it includes

  • A set of prompts relevant to your business
  • Brand and competitor presence in AI answers
  • Sources AI engines cite in your industry
  • Prioritized action plan
02

Schema for LLMs

Structured data that makes it clear who you are, what you offer and how it all connects. Information engines can read and verify without ambiguity.

What it includes

  • Audit of current schema
  • Entity model: Organization, Person, Product, Service
  • FAQPage, HowTo and other useful types
  • Validation and maintenance
03

llms.txt & protocols

Files and settings that help language models understand your site: llms.txt, AI crawler access in robots.txt and content that is easy to extract.

What it includes

  • llms.txt creation
  • AI crawler access review in robots.txt
  • Easy-to-cite content structure
  • Rendering review for bots without JavaScript
04

Entity optimization

AI engines reason with entities, not keywords. I work so your brand, products and people are clear, consistent entities across the web.

What it includes

  • Brand consistency audit across external sources
  • Reference profiles and sources (sameAs)
  • Citeable facts and verifiable data on your site
  • Content that reinforces topical authority
05

Citation monitoring

Regular tracking of when and how AI engines cite you, to measure progress and spot changes before your competitors do.

What it includes

  • Tracking a fixed set of prompts
  • Competitor comparison
  • Monthly report on citations and mentions
  • Strategy adjustments based on results

/engines

AI engines I work to make you visible on

  • Google AI Overviews
  • ChatGPT
  • Perplexity
  • Gemini
  • Claude
  • Copilot
  • Jais
  • Fanar

And whichever emerges. The landscape changes every quarter. A serious GEO consultant doesn't bet on a single engine.

/who it is for

I work with…

I work as a GEO consultant for brands that understand search is no longer only Google and want to arrive before their competition.

  • Leading brands that want to protect their position in AI

Brands with authority in their industry that don't want AI engines recommending their competitors.

  • SaaS that depends on being cited

Products whose customers compare options by asking ChatGPT or Perplexity.

  • Experts and consultancies

Professionals whose reputation depends on being the cited source in their field.

  • Any brand already doing serious SEO

If you already work on SEO rigorously, GEO is the natural next step.

GEO FAQ

What does a GEO consultant do?

A GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) consultant helps a brand appear when customers ask AI engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Claude. Covers visibility audits, schema for LLMs, agentic protocols like llms.txt and ai-catalog.json, entity optimization and per-engine citation monitoring.

What is GEO and how does it differ from SEO?

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) optimizes for AI engines to cite you in their answers. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) optimizes for Google to show your page in a list. GEO prioritizes clear entities, citable facts, structured schema and authority signals verifiable by LLMs. SEO still prioritizes keywords, pages and links. Complementary, not substitutes.

How do I get my brand to appear in ChatGPT?

You need three things: your brand existing as a recognizable entity in sources LLMs read (Wikipedia, LinkedIn, authority media, industry directories), your site having correct structured schema and llms.txt, and your content being citable (concrete data, clear author, date, source). Not a button you press: it's months of work.

Can GEO be measured?

Partially. There's no Google Search Console for ChatGPT yet. It's measured with a combination: GA4 referrals from AI domains (chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com), periodic manual tests of a fixed prompt set per engine, and citation monitoring tools. Any GEO consultant promising perfect dashboards is exaggerating.

Will GEO replace SEO?

Not in the next few years. Google still has dominant search share and AIs partly drink from the same sources Google ranks. A brand doing SEO well has a head start in GEO. But rules aren't identical and there are GEO-specific signals traditional SEO doesn't touch.

How long does GEO take to show results?

First citations can appear in 4-8 weeks if SEO basics exist. Consistent positioning across a broad prompt set requires 4-6 months of sustained work. The advantage of doing it now is far less competitive noise than classic SEO.
